Erika Hüsselmann

Oils, acrylics, mixed media painter

Creativity has been a defining force throughout Erika’s life. Initially, her journey led her into the world of music, where she earned a Bachelor of Music specializing in classical piano. However, despite her deep love for music, the demands of live performance led her to shift her focus toward teaching—allowing her to share her passion without the pressures of the stage.

Visual art, by contrast, offered a different kind of performance—one that could be captured on canvas, preserved, and revisited long after its creation. This realization led her to pursue postgraduate studies in art, marking the beginning of a dedicated and evolving artistic career. Over the past two and a half decades, she has built a substantial body of work, exhibiting locally through commercial galleries and in group shows. Through an intuitive approach to composition, she creates pieces that develop their own narrative, are whimsical, and often ambiguous. Although there might sometimes be a subtle biographical reference, her work remains non-representational and open to interpretation.

Her work is held in private collections both locally and internationally.
